Where to drop off scrap metal at Ontario dumps

224 public sites across Ontario list scrap metal on the operator's own website. Checked October 2026.

Most municipal sites have a free or low-cost scrap metal pile for appliances, bikes, barbecues and other metal. If you'd rather be paid for it, a scrap yard is the better trip. These public sites list scrap metal.

Before you go

  • Call or check the site's page first. Item rules, limits and fees change, and some sites take certain items only on set days.
  • Bring proof of address. Many municipal sites are for residents only.
  • Keep the item separate in your load so it can go straight to the right pile.
